Your new favorite green juice? Cocktail? or both?! It's Cocktails with Ty week 2 and we got a little adventurous with this drink.
At the time we made this cocktail, we honestly didn't have much in our kitchen so we were Scrounging hard to create this drink. BUT as I always say my best Scrounges are when I don't have much in my kitchen and this cocktail did not disappoint!
If you haven't already figured out what "Guactail" means, well first of all, "get there faster!" (Friends quote anyone? I can't believe this is my first Friends reference in a post, I quote that show on the regular!) – "Guactail" is a combo of "guacamole" and "cocktail...ah ha!
Now I realize that may not sound like something you'd want to drink, but TRUST ME give it a try, it has such an awesome flavor and texture.
The Avocado doesn't provide flavor it's really there for texture, it adds a smoothness and froathiness that tastes and feels great to drink. If you've ever added an avocado to a smoothie you'll understand what I mean by this.
The jalapeno adds a nice spice and if you use mezcal, the spicy and smoky combo is de-lish! The Lime and sparkling water really top this drink off to make it a perfectly refreshing cocktail at the end of a long week!
Have some fun at home with this cocktail and give it a try! Hey, think of it this way, you're getting in some of your daily nutrients from the avocado, just call it your new green juice :)
Ingredients:
1/2 Avocado
1/2 Jalapeno
4 oz Agave based spirit (i.e. mezcal or tequila)
1 Lime
1 oz Simple syrup - we used our homemade honey syrup see this post for how to make
Ice
4-8 oz Sparkling water
Preparation:
Chop 1/2 jalapeno - for more spice keep some seeds in, for less spice remove seeds
Chop 1/2 avocado into small pieces
In a tall glass add chopped jalapeno
Mudel all ingredients as much as you can in glass
Add ice to glass
Shake everything in shaker to blend ingredients
Pour 2 into 2 glasses using a cocktail strainer which should fill about half the glass
Add ice to each glass
Then add sparkling water to each glass until full
Garnish each glass with lime and jalapeno if desired
The Scrounge:
If you don't have these exact ingredients, Scrounge with the things you have at home! For example, if you don't 'have mezcal – use tequila or you can even dry vodka or gin however, I think an agave based spirit will taste best with this drink. If you don't have honey – use simple syrup, maple syrup or scrounge up just about any syrup by heating something sweet and adding different agreements with 1 to 1 parts water. If you don't have lime – try using a lemon instead. You may create something even better!
