HOW TO SCROUNGE
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO "SCROUNGE"?
Picture this, you're ravenous. You haven't gone grocery shopping. You're almost out of food... it's time to Scrounge! This is how I learned to cook, being creative with the food I have on hand. The concept of The Scrounge is to simplify cooking, be creative with what you have, and most importantly to use food as medicine!
STEP ONE: TAKE A LAP AROUND YOUR KITCHEN
Before you order takeout or head to the grocery store, take a lap around your kitchen and take inventory of what you have. I guarantee you have more food than you think and can likely Scrounge something up with the food that you already have at home instead of spending money on takeout or groceries.
STEP TWO: VISUALIZE
Pull out all of the food you have that you can possibly make a meal with, especially any foods that will go bad soon (i.e. produce, meats, sauces, etc.) and put them out on your table. This will help you visually see what you can pair together to make a meal.
STEP THREE: SCROUNGE
Now it's time to Scrounge! Get creative and come up with a new creation using the foods you have on your table. This is your chance to get creative in the kitchen, have confidence in yourself, it doesn't have to be fancy or complicated. I come up with my best meals when Scrounging, because I pair things together that I would never think of pairing and it ends up tasting delicious!
