Bacon Wrapped Dates

Call me crazy, but most of my life I haven't liked bacon! I never liked the taste or texture. I don't know what changed, but I started eating it about a year ago and now I love it! I'm not as obsessed with it as most people, but I definitely enjoy it.

Now that I like bacon, it's something we often have in our fridge for our weekend brunch sessions. This past Sunday at the last minute we decided to have our friends over for the Packers game, so I Scrounged, using what I had at home to make a few treats. I had never made bacon wrapped dates before, but I had the ingredients on hand, so I figured now was the time to give it a go. Let me tell you, these were super easy to make (minus the fire alarm that went off, oops!) and such a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients:

  • Bacon

  • Dates

  • Almonds (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°

  2. Stuff each date with one almond (optional but recommended, it's delicious!) - I stuffed some of my dates with almonds and some without, this way my guests could taste it both ways and see what they liked. I used the colored toothpicks to indicate which ones had almonds :)

  3. Wrap each date with a half a piece of bacon and secure with toothpick

  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes turning the dates halfway through so the bacon cooks evenly - I used thick cut bacon so they had to cook a little longer
