These energy bites are truly the best snack and do provide a nice boost of energy!
These are my version of a homemade protein bar. If you don’t know by now, I love protein bars but as I’ve said before, you have to be careful with which ones you choose to eat because they aren’t all healthy. These energy balls are great because they’re homemade so you know exactly what ingredients you’re putting into your body.
These are also so easy to travel with, so when you're on the move and need a healthy snack, take these babies with you. Not to mention these will take you less than 10 mins to make. I hope you enjoy!
*makes 12-15 bites
1/4 c. oats (I use gluten free oats)
2 scoops chocolate protein powder (I use plant based protein powder)
1/2 c. almond butter or peanut butter
1/3 c. honey
1 tbsp. chia seeds
2 tbsp cocoa nibs or mini dark chocolate chips
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix together
Refrigerate for 1 hour (this makes it easier to roll into balls, but if you don't have time to refrigerate you can try making balls without doing this step)
Roll into balls
Enjoy! (store in refrigerator)
If you don't have these exact ingredients, Scrounge with the things you have at home! For example, if you don't 'have protein powder – use cocoa powder. If you don't have honey – use maple syrup. If you don't have cacao nibs – use chocolate chips. If you don't have chia seeds – use hemp seeds or do without. You may create something even better!
